AN EVENT BACKED BY AN ASSOCIATION AND DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS
The event will once again see the light of day thanks to the dedication of an armada of volunteers at work beside their new president, Jean-Paul Rivière,
Created in 1989, its purpose is to facilitate and organise gatherings of sailing ships or military vessels on the quays of Rouen, so that they can be visited free of charge by the general public.
With 7 successful editions to its credit, a team of 50 volunteers is already preparing the 8th edition of the Armada, from 8 to 18 June 2023. The team consists of committees: sales, general security, civil liaison officers, reception, finance, insurance, legal, technical, communication, events... under the direct supervision of the President.
In an extraordinary organisation for an extraordinary event, at its height the Armada involves more than 300 volunteers. During each edition, they give their best to ensure the public enjoys 10 exceptional days.

THE 2019 ARMADA: FACTS AND FIGURES
Visitors:
Several million visitors for 10 days, based on 400,000 people per day:
- 45% Normans
- 45% from other regions of France
- 10% from abroad
Plus 1 or 2 millions visitors along the Seine during the Grand Parade.
Business:
A hotel occupancy rate of 95% and numerous types of accommodation
A 123% increase in average museum attendance during the Armada
57% of the visitors take the opportunity to visit the city.
Budget :
7.5 million euros excluding VAT, including 3 million from the local authorities.
45 tall ships
Some twenty sightseeing boats and floating restaurants
More than 30 countries represented
More than 5,000 sailors from around the world
