The vessel must respond to the often difficult sea conditions in the Channel and the Atlantic and guarantee a presence at sea of 300 days per year on six-day missions, as opposed to a maximum of two days for the old launches.
To do this, the JOF (DFP1) has an anti-roll system allowing the safe launching of their two tenders.
One of these tenders, a Hurricane H920-10, 10 meters long, benefits from a great autonomy, studied to allow it to reach the limit of tracking distance by the patrol boat's radar.
The patrol boat also has numerous on-board equipments such as night vision, detection (two navigation radars), video-endoscopes, densimeters, etc
The Jacques Oudart Fourmentin (DF P1) was launched in February 2007.
It was named after the famous Boulogne privateer Jacques-Oudart Fourmentin, also known as Baron Bucaille, born on February 22, 1764.
Assigned to Boulogne sur mer, its patrol area extends over the Channel and the North Sea up to 24 nautical miles from the French coast. The ship bears on each side of its bow the AEM (Action de l'État en Mer) marking. It consists of three sloping stripes in the national colors, blue, white and red.
Its main missions are :
-
The fight against customs fraud by sea (in particular drug trafficking)
-
The contribution to the interministerial action of the State at sea (the fight against marine pollution, the control of fishing at sea, safety at sea and the navigation police)
-
Contribution to the fight against maritime trafficking of migrants (illegal immigration)
-
Rescue of persons in the framework of SAR activity
