Tante Fine, diminutive of Tante Joséphine, is an old lobster dundee from Plouhinec.
It is one of the last dundee to have been made in the traditional way with an oak hull.
History
The lobster boat Tante Fine was built in 1960 and launched in July 1961 in Plouhinec in front of Audierne, partly financed by the aunt Josephine of three fishermen, hence its baptismal name. It carried out its fishing campaigns for lobster along the coasts of Mauritania and tuna by line in the Bay of Biscay. These fishing techniques were no longer used, and he fished with traps in Northern Brittany and as far as the Irish Sea until 1986.
Judged too old, it remained abandoned at the quay of Perros-Guirec.
It was in a state of wreck when the association ISMM/AFDAM from Fecamp discovered it and acquired it in 1991.
Restoration
She was restored at the Fécamp shipyard from plans of local old rigs. More than 10,000 hours of work were necessary to restore her in the framework of youth and reintegration workcamps.
Navigation
She made her first cruise in 1996 to go to the Brest meeting. Many social projects followed, including 3 participations in the Tall Ships Race that the Tante Fine won in 2002 with young people from Fécamp on board.
Currently
Today, the Tante Fine is limited to sailing in front of Fécamp. She can welcome 32 passengers on board for 2 to 4 hours trips.
