Built in 1984 in the shipyard from Gdansk to Poland, Kaliakra is a three-master schooner. The ship was specially designed for the training and the qualification of the students of the Maritime academy of Varna, the future officers of the Bulgarian merchant fleet.

Symbol of the maritime heritage of Bulgaria, Kaliakra is one of the fastest big sailboats of the world and participates in numerous races of which famous Cutty Sark Tall Ships Régatta.
